There’s always been intrigue surrounding the Laci Peterson investigation. The entire case resembled a movie straight from Hollywood: Extremely gorgeous people, a pregnancy, sex, deception, two dead bodies— murder. It was one of those tragedies that became sensationalized among the masses. With Laci’s husband now sitting on death row, there are missing pieces that need to be uncovered and should be uncovered. It all derives from forensic evidence and theories not followed.
The Couple:
Laci Rocha and Scott Peterson met at a restaurant Scott had been waiting tables at. Their story became extremely typical—Girl meets boy, they fall in love, and boy marries girl. The two were envied among their circle. Scott was the charming husband and Laci was the pretty fun loving wife. But when does it end deadly? What happened between “perfection” and homicide? And so begins the Peterson files.
Christmas Eve 2002:
A very pregnant Laci was supposed to be home, after all that was the last place her husband reported seeing her. That day she was to prepare for Christmas dinner. It never happened and [Scott never seen his wife again.]
On that eve, Peterson took his boat on a fishing trip at a Berkley marina. After the day was over, he returned home to find his golden retriever in the backyard with his leash attached. Laci’s car was in their driveway and even though he saw that she was gone, he didn’t believe anything was out of the ordinary—until all of her friends said they had not seen Laci. That’s when he made the call to her mother and said, “Mom, Laci’s missing.”

I like this story! The only thing I would say you MIGHT want to look at is when you give a lot of lists/descriptions in one sentence. "Boy meets girl, they fall in love, and girl marries boy" " He goes into the house, puts his dirty clothes in the washer, takes a shower, then eats a slice of pizza" Also, the note (*) could be taken out and added to another part of the story or at the end. Either way, I would keep reading!
ReplyDeleteI really liked your lead. You confronted the fact that most people have already heard about the case, but you still keep readers interested by decribing it as Hollywood movie worthy. The only suggestion I have is to omit the last sentence "And so begins the Peterson files." I think you can do without it; however, it does add some suspense to the case
ReplyDeleteyou're absolutely right! thanks for the feeback, i appreciate it.
