What doesn’t make since in the Haleigh Cummings’ disappearance is her new stepmother. Misty Croslin’s claim is that she had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. She then noticed that the kitchen light was on and the backdoor (which was always locked) was propped open by a cinder block. When Croslin realized that the five-year-old was not in her toddler bed, she did not call 9-1-1. Ronald Cummings made the phone call when he returned home from work. He says that his wife did not want to make a false call. Understandable. But when a little girl, who is terrified of the dark, is not in her bed and a light is on and a door is open— why was the police not called that second? Did Croslin assume she was playing hide-and-go-seek? It doesn’t add up.
The other thing that seems completely illogical is the intruder theory. Someone that had apparently been watching the tot, that had a plan with a quick exit strategy, does not turn on a light. Furthermore, (though it's been done) why would an abductor take a sleeping child from a bedroom she is sharing with a babysitter and brother? Think like a criminal. You’re the abductor. You want to take the kid and do it as quickly as possible.
